Zurich Takaful Malaysia Appoints Nur Fatihah Mustafa: First Woman CEO for Malaysian Takaful Industry

Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad (ZTMB) today announced a historic milestone with the appointment of Nur Fatihah Mustafa as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 4 June 2024. Fatihah becomes the first woman to lead a takaful operator in Malaysia, a significant step forward for diversity and inclusion in the industry.

“We are incredibly proud to appoint Fatihah as the CEO of ZTMB,” said Junior Cho, Country CEO/Head of Zurich Malaysia. “Her proven track record, deep understanding of the takaful industry, and commitment to customer centricity makes her the ideal candidate to lead ZTMB in creating a brighter future for the takaful business. Fatihah's appointment is a testament to our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and we believe she will inspire and empower other high performers within Zurich to pursue leadership roles.”

Previously serving as the Authorised Representative for ZTMB, Fatihah played a key role in refocusing ZTMB's strategy on growth, driving product delivery and innovation, and seeking opportunities to strengthen the company's position as a leader in the Malaysian takaful market.

Fatihah began her journey with Zurich Malaysia in 2018 as the Head of General Takaful Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR) before being promoted to Takaful FAR Controller. In December 2022, Fatihah further assumed a dual role as Head of Strategy Planning and Performance Management for family takaful.

As one of the representatives for Zurich’s Female Leaders Advocate Group (FLAG), Fatihah fosters an inclusive environment that empowers female talent within Zurich to thrive with confidence and unlock their full leadership potential. Fatihah holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is also a Chartered Member of the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) Australia and Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

“I am honoured to assume the role of CEO at ZTMB and play a part in the advancement of the takaful industry,” said Fatihah. “Through the utilisation of technology and a deep understanding of customer needs, our focus will remain on delivering innovative takaful solutions that contribute to a more inclusive financial landscape in Malaysia. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the management team and the board of directors for entrusting me to lead ZTMB to greater heights. I also hope my career journey serves as an inspiration for other women to pursue their leadership ambitions.”
