Eat Right to Play Right
At Zurich, being a responsible and sustainable company is at the foundation of our business. We believe in investing for a better future by protecting and giving back to the communities in which we live and work.
Together with the support from the Z Zurich Foundation and One Goal Malaysia, we launched the Eat Right to Play Right (ERTPR) programme with the aim to improve the nutritional knowledge and status of our children. Leveraging on the power of football and Malaysia’s passion for the sport, the ERTPR programme uses football as a platform to educate children on the importance of nutrition as well as instill self-discipline and sportsmanship.
The introduction of the Malaysian Healthy Plate, which explains the recommended food categories and portion according to the Suku-Suku Separuh (Quarter-Quarter-Half) concept, is shown to be a more effective communication tool to highlight the dietary recommendations of the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines and Food Pyramid.
The Malaysian Healthy Plate serves as a basic guide to educate Malaysians on the right amount of food to be consumed from each food group. It does not highlight specific daily calorie intakes or number of servings for each food group because the required amount of food to be consumed differs for each individual.
The Suku-Suku Separuh concept aims to provide a simpler illustration of food servings which would encourage an increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, as well as control the intake of rice, noodles, bread and other grains while promoting the consumption of whole-grains. Not just that, this concept hopes to ensure that Malaysians have sufficient intake of fish, chicken, meat and nuts, as well as encourage the consumption of plain water. Meals should also be low in fat, sugar and salt as outlined in the 2010 Malaysian Dietary Guidelines.
